Buckle Up Phone Down

As we approach this Fourth of July, I hope your travels to and from your
celebrations are safe and you can take some time to enjoy Missouri's beauty,
as well as our nation's splendor. It seems this year we've only blinked and
we are in the midst of the "100 Deadliest Days of Summer".

In 2018, there were 307 fatalities on Missouri roads in the 100 days between
Memorial Day and Labor Day and more than half of the motorcycle fatalities
occurred during this same time frame. I urge all who travel in and around
the Show-Me State to buckle up, slow down, drive sober and never drive
distracted. Most traffic crashes are preventable.

Thank you to the thousands of Missourians who have accepted the Buckle Up
Phone Down challenge. Let's continue to change the safety culture by
challenging others to sign up at www.modot.org/bupd
<http://www.modot.org/bupd> so that everyone gets home safe during the
warm, sunny days of summer.

Safe summer travels and Happy 4th of July,
